We worked with a student on a consistent basis for the entirety of her last year of university. She was studying for a degree in Child Protection. To one particular essay of 2,300 words, we made a total of 492 revisions.

Essentially, we deleted and replaced words and added in missing words to make the sentences more academic and comprehensible.
